THE FOLLOWING ARE DEFINITIONS
USED AT RSN FOR CLASSIFICATION OF THE VARIOUS TYPES OF RACING-EVENTS
Hopefully these classifications will help in the dissemination
of your racing-safety insights or HELP tell ,or find, a Safety story about your type of racing

VEHICLES = A EXTERNALY POWERED
object that is NOT alive e.g., Gasoline powered skate-boards, jet assisted back-packs, gliders,
kayaks, sleds, water-skiing, etc., are classified
as racing with a Vehicle .
NOTE: ice-skates, skies, roller blades, roller skates, track shoes, snow-boards, climbing equipment, parachutes, foot
propelled "bed races" , etc.., are NOT considered a Vehicle at this Site.
ROBOTIC VEHICLES = Not Human POWERED and No HUMAN
CONTROL,
i.e., so-called Self-Contained or, Self-Guiding
vehicles

HUMAN POWER = source of motion
(power) is provided by either
a human or by gravity
e.g., biking, roller skating, ice skating, running, sculling, walking,
sky-diving (gravity-powered events).

RACING WITH
VEHICLES involves two different sizes or scale.
A. Natural
-Size e.g., production size airplanes, automobiles, motorcycles, boats,
go-Karts, lawn mowers, etc., So called Dwarf, Midget Car,
Mini-Dragsters, Monster-Trucks, etc. are considered Natural Sized vehicles.
If a person can fit in it, or on it, it’s a
Natural Sized Vehicle.
B.
MODEL - Size = 1/8 th scale or smaller of above vehicles.
e.g., Boy Scout Pinewood
Derby™ cars, slot-cars, model airplanes, model boats, etc. .
